When the mind is churning, it can feel as though you are the storm. You are not. This meditation helps you remember that you are the sky, not the weather passing through it. The anxious thoughts, the spikes of fear, the dark clouds of dread are all weather moving across you, and weather, however fierce, always passes. You rest as the wide, unshaken awareness behind it all.

Best for: anyone caught in anxious spirals, overwhelmed by intrusive thoughts, or swept up in fear they've mistaken for who they are.

Use it when: the worry feels like it's taking you over, when a wave of panic or dread won't let go, when you're fused with anxious thinking, or when you need space between yourself and the storm in your head.

How it helps: you learn to watch the weather move without being swept into it, naming each thought as weather and letting it drift. By the end the storm has thinned, the awareness has stayed wide, and you rest again as the open sky the clouds could never touch.

A roughly ten-minute guided breathing meditation in a calm voice over gentle ambient sound, from The Silent Ember Anxiety collection.
