There is an old grudge you have carried, heavy for a long time, into rooms it had no business entering. This meditation lets your body feel its weight, and then lets it ease. The grudge once felt like protection, but notice what it has actually done: it has lived in your chest and your shoulders, wearing you down, never theirs.
Best for: anyone holding onto resentment or an old hurt, who feels the tightness of a grudge they cannot seem to release, and who is simply tired of carrying it.
Use it when: an old resentment keeps tightening your jaw and shoulders; you replay a wrong that still lives in your body; you want to forgive and let go without pretending it was fine; or the weight of holding on has worn you down and you are ready to set it down.
How it helps: breath by breath you loosen the grip, like a fist clenched so long it forgot it could open. Letting go does not mean they were right; it means you are done carrying it. You leave lighter, the space where the grudge lived quiet and open and yours again.
A roughly ten-minute guided breathing meditation in a calm voice over gentle ambient sound, from The Silent Ember Letting go collection.
