The day is over now, and whatever you did or did not finish, it has stopped asking anything of you. This meditation helps you lay down the day's scorekeeping and rest in a simpler truth: sleep asks nothing of your achievements. You do not have to qualify for rest or earn your way into the dark. Underneath everything you did today, you were already whole, already enough.
Best for: anyone who lies awake tallying what got done and what fell short, worn out by self-judgment and the constant pressure to prove their worth, who needs to fall asleep and let go.
Use it when: you can't switch off the mental scoreboard at night, you feel you have to earn rest before you're allowed it, or the quiet inner judge keeps you striving when you long to simply sleep.
How it helps: slow, lengthening breaths release the body's bracing while you let the scoreboard go dark and feel your worth as something that was never the thing you produced. By the end the striving has set its hands down, you rest in a wide, dark field that asks nothing of you, and you drift toward the sleep that was always yours.
